Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayArman Tsarukyan believes it would be wise for Ilia Topuria to chase a super fight with Islam Makhachev while he still can.
Topuria is scheduled to face Justin Gaethje in the UFC Freedom 250 headliner. It’ll be a title unification bout in the lightweight division. “El Matador” is a big favorite going into the bout and if he can handle business on fight night, he could open the door for the mega fight with Makhachev.
Tsarukyan spoke to reporters following his RAF 9 win over Keelon “Mugzy” Jimison, and he said that fighting Makhachev would be better for Topuria than sticking around at 155 pounds (via MMAFighting).
“If UFC let’s him move up, he’s going to move up,” Tsarukyan said. “It’s better to fight with Islam than me. Because it’s a third title, big money, and if he loses to Islam, it’s OK. He moved up to a weight class and lose to pound-for-pound [king]. But if he loses to me at 155, he’s gonna be gone.”
Tsarukyan doesn’t currently have his next fight booked, but he will be keeping an eye on the aforementioned title unification bout between Topuria and Gaethje.
“I’m waiting for the White House card,” Tsarukyan said. “When they’re going to fight, and then they’re going to announce my next fight. Probably September, October, or the end of this year. Depends who is going to win. If it’s Ilia, probably end of this year. If it’s Gaethje, probably September, October.”
Tsarukyan has been staying active outside the Octagon with his freestyle wrestling matches under the RAF banner. He’s already set to face Colby Covington on the RAF 11 card, which is scheduled to take place on July 18.
If Ilia Topuria defeats Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250, what do you think he’d do next? Would he fight Arman Tsarukyan, or would he go after Islam Makahchev? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
