It didn't take long for Rafael Devers to go from a disrespected star to having one of the worst contracts in all of baseball.

The San Francisco Giants have struggled in the early stretch of the season, and they might be looking at a fire sale at some point in the season.

As such, Devers might be an interesting trade piece for contending teams.

However, MLB insider Robert Murray pumped the brakes on the speculation, stating that the Giants are more than comfortable keeping their stars.

The Giants don't want to trade Rafael Devers

“Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, the Giants have not internally discussed trading any of those players,” Murray told Foul Territory. “They want to continue to build around them. They want to continue to try to compete this season.”

Devers has had a tough time getting his legs back under him in the Bay Area. So far, he's slashing .247/.295/.395 over 43 games with his new team, per Baseball Reference.

The Giants are currently fourth in the NL West, sitting on a 18-25 record and going 5-5 in the last 10 games.

That said, there's still plenty of baseball to be played this season, and Devers is an MVP-caliber slugger when he gets going, so it might be too early to throw in the towel.

Of course, this a long season and all situations are fluid, but for the time being, it looks like the Giants aren't panicking or having any sort of buyer's remorse.
