Speaking publicly for the first time since agreeing to sign with the New York Knicks, veteran center Andre Drummond shared his excitement about joining the defending NBA champions and contributing to a team with championship expectations.

The player acknowledged the impact of Mitchell Robinson’s absence and believes he can help fill that void with his own experience and style of play.

“Mitchell Robinson was a huge loss for them,” said Drummond, a New York native.

“I bring in a similar talent, similar energy, but I’m a veteran, I’ve been around for a long time. I know what it takes to win. Excited to be in a new role in a new city and going back to a place I’m familiar with.”

Drummond has played 14 seasons for 6 teams, including the Pistons and 76ers. He has averaged 12.1 points and 11.9 rebounds in 967 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 2 All-Star games.
