Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIt appears Anderson Silva has given Dana White the silent treatment for almost six full years.
Silva is widely regarded as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. He once dominated as the UFC Middleweight Champion and turned in some of the most spectacular knockouts fight fans have ever seen.
Things weren’t always rosy between “The Spider” and the UFC brass, however. White had his share of criticisms for Silva after lackluster showings against the likes of Demian Maia and Thales Leites.
Back in Nov. 2020, Silva was released from UFC after going 1-7, 1 NC in his last nine outings. Speaking to The Rolling Stone, White claimed that the MMA legend hasn’t spoken to him since being cut.
Dana White talks Anderson Silva: That guy won't talk to me to this day because I said it's over and he was in his 40s.pic.twitter.com/xcOZaLc0cf
— Jed I. Goodman © (@jedigoodman) May 26, 2026“He lost like eight or nine or 10 in a row, something like that and that guy won’t talk to be me to this day because I told him it was over, and he was in his 40s,” White said. “His thing was, ‘Who are you to tell me that I’m done doing what I love to do?'”
When asked what he typically tells aging fighters when he wants them to move on, White had a blunt response.
“It’s over,” White said. “Obviously, they could go fight, and he did. He went and fought a boxing match and he fought a bunch of other fights. He can still fight. You just can’t do it here.”
While Silva did enter the UFC Hall of Fame class of 2023, he did not attend attend the ceremony. He also wasn’t present for his “Fight Wing” induction the following year to honor his UFC 117 classic against Chael Sonnen.
Silva has found success in the boxing ring post-UFC. He has gone 3-1 since returning to the pro boxing scene. “The Spider” has a unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul, but he scored wins over Tyron Woodley, Tito Ortiz, and former boxing world champion Julio César Chávez Jr.
