Wrexham head into the 2026/27 season looking to continue their remarkable rise under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, with the Red Dragons having smashed their transfer record multiple times in recent years as they've climbed the divisions.

This summer has been quieter by comparison, with the club's business shaped more by departures than fresh incomings as the squad gets a natural refresh ahead of what is hopefully a run at Championship promotion.

New Wrexham Signings 2026/27

Total summer spend: £28m

Danny Imray has joined from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee, adding depth at right-back. Imray was excellent during two loan spells away from Palace last season.

Goalkeeper Anthony Patterson becomes the club's new record signing, and the spending didn't stop there with Jacques Ekomié and Callum O'Hare also joining him in the club's top five deals of all time.

Joe Worrall and Issa Kaboré reinforce the defensive ranks, while midfielder Ben Whiteman arrived from Preston to add depth and experience in midfield.

Wrexham Departures 2026/27

Total summer sales: £500k

Thomas O'Connor joined Peterborough United on a free transfer, while club favourite Paul Mullin moved on to Rotherham United after his release.

Andy Cannon has joined Fleetwood Town, with Max Purvis and Tom Kelly both dropping into Welsh football with Dinas Bangor City and Bala Town respectively.

Jay Rodriguez, Callum Edwards and Reuben Egan have all been released as free agents, and they've since been joined out of contract by Conor Coady and Elliot Lee.

Mo Faal went out on loan to Port Vale, while fellow forwards Davis Keillor-Dunn and Ryan Hardie have also left on temporary deals, to Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton respectively.

Ryan Barnett and Alex Moore have gone out on loan too, to MK Dons and Colwyn Bay, and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has joined Charlton on a season-long loan.

Lewis Brunt has completed a permanent move to Bolton, while Dan Scarr and Harry Ashfield have left for Salford and Peterborough respectively, both for undisclosed fees.

Who is Wrexham's Record Signing?

Wrexham's record signing is goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, signed from Sunderland for a fee of £8m, which could rise to £10m with add-ons.

Patterson was excellent in the Championship for the Black Cats, helping them get promoted, and will hope to do the same thing in Wales.
