Alexandre Pantoja enters the UFC Octagon at UFC 323

Alexandre Pantoja sent a violent warning to Joshua Van ahead of their rematch at UFC 331.

Pantoja and Van first fought last December at UFC 323, but the bout ended in 26 seconds due to an arm injury to Pantoja. It was a disappointing end to the fight and also ended Pantoja’s title reign. Entering UFC 331, Pantoja is a +106 underdog while the champ is a -136 favorite on FanDuel.

Although Pantoja lost to Van in the first fight, he expects to get revenge in a true fight without injuries, as he expects to finish Van to reclaim his flyweight title.

“Joshua Van has a unique fighting style; Joshua Van is the perfect guy for this new generation. But I’m an old-school fighter; I’ve been fighting for almost 20 years,” Pantoja said on UFC 331 Countdown. “I think that is a huge advantage. I’m very complete, and I have so many ways to win this fight. I’m very focused on what I need to do to win this world title. The Cannibal is ready to eat Joshua Van alive.”

It’s a violent warning from Pantoja, as he said he plans to eat Van alive to reclaim his flyweight title. He also believes UFC 331 will prove to everyone if Van is actually the champ or if he just won the belt due to the injury.

“Johua Van, you are good; you are the champion of the world; you are the best one. But, September 19, when the Octagon locks, we will see if you are the true champion of the world,” Pantoja added.

If Pantoja gets his hand raised, he will further cement his legacy as one of the best flyweights of all-time. But beating Van will be easier said than done, as he’s 17-2 and on a seven-fight winning streak.
