After blowing a 2-0 lead to the Baltimore Ravens, the New York Yankees' skid continues.

Aaron Boone's team has now dropped four consecutive games, although it's not all bad news for the Bronx Bombers.

Ace Gerrit Cole continues to trend in the right direction as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, and he looked more like himself in his last rehab start with Double-A Somerset.

Cole was out there for five innings and threw a season-high 77 pitches, striking out eight and topping 99 mph with his fastball.

Gerrit Cole is looking more like his old self

“Really good,” Boone said of Cole's performance, per Greg Joyce of The New York Post. “Ripped his last heater 99 for another punch. I think it was a little more of a competitive Gerrit trying to get outs. I thought he threw the ball really well. Stuff was really good. Another good step for him.”

The former Cy Young winner issued just one walk and gave up four hits and two earned runs in his best rehab start of the season.

Notably, the Yankees will now have to make a decision when Cole gets back into the fold.

Will Warren and Ryan Weathers have both shown that they're more than capable of holding down the fort, and they've made strong cases for staying in the rotation. Weathers even flirted with a no-hitter for 6.1 innings in the loss to the Orioles.

Of course, that's a great problem to have if you're the Yankees, especially with the team desperately needing some momentum right now.
